About this project
Sierra College, in conjunction with support from industry partners such as the Dignity Medical Foundation, committed to building a Surgical Technician program and dual enrollment pathway. This project addresses the strong regional demand for surgical technologists while creating a pathway to high-wage careers for students and beyond.
Funding to build the program was a collaborative effort and was designed to be reproducible across community colleges. In addition to curriculum development, the project included accreditation and certification processes. This pathway supports access to high-wage, high-demand careers through a one-year program, preparing students for jobs paying approximately $25–$40 above a living wage.
