The Sacramento Regional K-16 Collaborative, a partnership between the area’s school districts and colleges, announced a new data-sharing agreement between Elk Grove Unified School District, the Sacramento County Office of Education, Los Rios Community College District, Sacramento State and UC Davis.

Unlike traditional one-to-one data-sharing agreements, this will connect the entire educational ecosystem in the Sacramento region, according to a press release from the collaborative. Other school districts and institutions of higher education in the region will be invited to join the data sharing agreement once it is fully implemented.

The agreement will give colleges and universities additional information to offer targeted supports to students, and will allow school districts to track students post-graduation to aid in fine-tuning academic programs, according to the collaborative.

“Bringing our data systems together is essential to ensure that we have the information needed to make strategic decisions for our students’ futures,” said Sacramento County Superintendent of Schools David Gordon, who also serves as the K-16 Collaborative chair.  “We must continue pushing forward, knowing that with each new partnership and innovation, we are creating an educational landscape that is truly inclusive and transformative.”

Sharing data between school districts and institutes of higher education also will expand dual enrollment opportunities, so that high school students can complete college units before graduation, according to the press release.

“Our collaborative effort is a critical step towards working together on behalf of our region’s students,” said Los Rios Community College District Chancellor Brian King. “This partnership allows us to ensure that students transition seamlessly throughout our educational systems so that we can ensure they are prepared for opportunities in STEM-related careers, particularly in healthcare, engineering, and computing.”
