On Friday, November 14th, the Sacramento K-16 Collaborative had the pleasure of hosting a Capital Caucus site visit at Arthur A. Benjamin Health Professions High School. The event was a powerful reminder of our mission: building clear, equitable pathways that help students move confidently into meaningful careers.

We were thrilled to hear directly from students, educators, and community partners about the impact of the programs happening on campus. The gathering brought together legislators, nonprofit leaders, healthcare professionals, and educators, creating a space for rich dialogue and shared inspiration.

Highlighting Programs That Make a Difference

Some of our funded programs are already thriving at Health Professions High School. One standout is the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program, which allows high school students to graduate with a CNA certification—giving them a head start in healthcare careers.

We also supported a Train the Trainer program for Stop the Bleed certification, training five new instructors who can now teach students, staff, and administrators, expanding the reach and impact of this critical lifesaving program.

Students at the Center

Students shared how Health Professions High School supports their career exploration and future planning. One student said, “I was drawn here because they’re actually helping us figure out what we want to do in our careers. I knew I wanted to go into healthcare, and this school is giving me the tools to get started.”

Looking Ahead

A special thank you to Principal Holly Buckley for welcoming us to Junior Jag Day, where 8th-grade students from across the district explored Health Professions High School, learned about campus programs, and engaged in hands-on learning experiences.

We are excited to continue our work to support regional education and workforce initiatives. Through programs like these, we are creating momentum for student success and meaningful career pathways throughout the Sacramento region.

Together, with students, educators, employers, and community partners, we are building a future where every student has the opportunity to thrive.
